"And if you're looking for a conference speaker,
you can't do better than Marty--some conferences I go to just because I know Marty will be there!"

Mary Griffith, author of
The Homeschooling Handbook,
The Unschooling Handbook, and Viral Learning

My children learning at home meant that we had time to build relationships, to laugh, talk, play, and to discover interests. I can't imagine having mothered any other way. I read outloud to my children many hours a day and learned lots of things from how roads are built to how to fold efficient paper airplanes.

In the process of being a stay-at-home homeschooling mom, I learned as much as my children. So, I wrote a book to answer people’s questions about homeschooling Learning At Home: A Mother's Guide To Homeschooling, now in its third edition -  August, 2007.

I love to sing. When my children were young, we sang together in the car, at home, and/or at bedtime. One summer, I decided to record some of my favourites from the many songs we sung together. Brighten the Day – songs to celebrate the seasons is the result. You can listen to clips and read more about the CD if you follow the link.

I've spoken at various homeschooling conferences and presented a number of workshops about education in various places in the US and Canada. Please contact me for rates and more information if you'd like to have me speak to your homeschooling group or at your parenting workshop.

As my children grew older and began to need less of my time, I taught baby massage classes and developed and taught "Mommy and Me" baby programs with songs, fingerplays, and simple dances.

I learned how to needle felt and love making lots of little animals. They took on a life of their own and soon, two stories appeared. My children's book, Autumn Stories, illustrated with my needle felted art is the result

I started to hand sew again and as a result I designed and made a number of little dolls. You can purchase a kit and following my instructions to make one for someone you love.

Now that I am the Oma (Dutch word for grandmother) of a beautiful grandson, I've started to knit again. Isn't life amazing!
