Parenting Workshops and Presentations

All workshops and presentations are tailored to suit the needs of those attending.  My workshops are interactive and participatory.  Time for questions is built in to both workshops and presentations.   If you are interested in having me lead a workshop or do a presentation, please don't hesitate to contact me.
You'll find a list of suggested topics below.  However, I am more than willing to work with you to find a topic suitable for your   group or event.

Communicating With Your Children
  • How to listen and communicate effectively
  • How to set limits
Improve your communication skills through guided practice. This is a participatory workshop. Each person will have the opportunity to practice new ways of communicating in a safe, supportive setting.

Creating The Family You Want
This seminar gives you a chance to
  • review child development and temperaments,
  • look at styles of discipline,
  • and the various ways that families live, learn and play together.
Built into this seminar is time to step back and reconnect with yourself, to take time to remember who you are and what is important to you. Interactive and oriented to the group, this workshop will help define your values and what you hope for your child.

"It was good to hear that you struggled and had doubts and fears. Sometimes, I start to worry and begin to doubt what I am doing.   Even though you didn't give me any guarantees that everything will turn out fine, after listening to you, I can accept that I will have doubts.  This is such a good feeling!"

Creating A Learning Environment
  • Why playtime is important for children from toddlers through teens
  • Facilitating play
  • Ensuring safety
  • Encouraging and supporting play by providing materials and time
  • The importance and pleasure of conversation
  • The importance of bedtime
After my initial presentation about play, I orient this workshop specifically to those attending.  Audience members share their concerns, which are then addressed in a priority sequence set by the group.

Babies in arms and toddlers/children who need to be with their mothers are always welcome with the understanding that each mother is responsible for her own children.
